It's the first time since exchanging rings that hands are joined together as feet move in time with the music. A beautiful first dance moment :)
dream weddings
Hanging out with newly engaged couples (like myself now. wahoo!!) is seriously one of the greatest things. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to chat with & photograph a couple couples. Ha, that is 2 couples, for Northern Virginia Mag that have been featured for print.
Last fall's Dream Wedding winners Carol & Nhi tasted lots of yummy cupcakes from Cupcakes Actually & decided upon a groom's cake (Redskin themed) at Swiss Bakery for their upcoming nuptials. Such delicious treats with a really fun couple :)
I tagged along with this year's Dream Wedding lovebirds Lauren & Kelby for their cake tasting, plus we got tons of adorablely adorable photos strolling around Fairfax Corner. As part of my very final assignment for the Mag, we also put together a He Said, She Said flash-fire quiz to see how well they knew each other.
Check out the results here! Congrats again to both couples & for Lauren & Kelby's upcoming big day later this fall :)
the story behind a picture
Sometimes we can see an image & be completely excited about the photo we see, not knowing what was going in the frame before/after the shutter clicked.
Here's what was going on right after the above picture
was taken by our great friend Don in Ohio...
We're just cheesin' away :)
And then notice where my right hand is & where Mr. D is looking down.
He said, "Are you trying to hold my tie?" To which I replied, "No, not at all."
When he started to move, it was clear I was actually holding
onto the tie haha. Which I don't think I actually intended to do.
He's just too darn handsome to let go of ;)
It made for a few very funny minutes right outside that Panera.
This is why I love taking real life, as-you-go shots of couples. There's no better place to get true emotion & great energy to come out in your photos than when you feel 100% at ease with your groom-to-be & the environment around you.
What some could consider outtakes, I actually find to be
the unplanned greatness that gives you beautiful, real
images to cherish for years to come :)
Happy Sunday!
Sara + Dan: beautiful engagement session in Georgetown
From the very first minute I got to chat with Sara & Dan, three things were super clear.
1. They had a huge heart for the Lord.
2. They were all about investing in college students.
3. They treated each another with such gentleness & love :)
They first met at a Regional Community meeting at our church last January & quickly realized they shared a common bond for overseas missions work. As the Lord would have it, Sarah began volunteering her time with The Gathering, a college ministry for the Georgetown students, where Dan was also very involved. Over time, they developed a friendship, which led to testing the dating waters, which led to a getting-down-on-one-knee-and-popping-the-question earlier this year ;)
For the engagement pictures, the awesome couple decided that going back to where they first met would the best spot. Couldn't agree more. Although it was a SUPER windy morning - I'm talking chilly, why aren't we inside with hot chocolate kind of sunrise - Sara & Dan were such troopers, bringing beautiful flowers for the pictures & keeping the spirits the whole time.
This about sums up their adorableness/love for one another & for the Lord. The couple that reads God's Word together, stays together, y'all.
Stop it. Seriously, they were such a joy to shoot! Just look at those faces. Ahhh <3
This may be my favorite. OK, well they're actually all up there as my faves. But this is Fave #1.
We finished off the morning with Sara + Dan taking time to pray together. Such a sweet time between the two of them.
To the Mr. & soon-to-be Mrs. Broberg,
I have been blessed up to my toes by getting to know y'all better at church (and in our P4M class!), through our time brainstorming for your engagement session & just plain by being around you two. Here's to your upcoming big day (August isn't that far off!!) & how the Lord will continue to use you both together to magnify Himself through your relationship, your marriage, your daily out-serving one another.
{June Goals}
Can you believe we're already in June?? What a quick May that was. It might have had something to do with getting engaged at the beginning of last month. Hot dang! ;) Although they're a few days late, here are my goals for this month:
June Goals
>> Read through the first half of Multiply by Francis Chan. Our church will be going through the study as a campus later this fall. #disciplemakingwhat
>> Aim for 7 hours of sleep each night. Right now, I'm between 5 1/2 - 6 & I can totally feel the difference when I stay up later. So. much. extra. coffee. needed.
>> Review our memory verses from last month & continue memorizing weekly with my SG ladies.
>> Blog weekly about photo shoots, brides-to-be & more LMP fun!
>> Continue adventures in P4M classes & wedding planning without adding crazy stress, or losing sight of what's most important :)
I want a marriage more beautiful than my wedding.
Happy weekend!
